As I bend down I can see one tiny crocus with its head above the ground. It is purple and sits all alone. But this is no ordinary crocus this is a magic crocus. This little crocus will help you to enter a world where all your family, friends and loved ones live that have gone to the spirit world.
They live just behind this big old yellow door, with a broken brown handle and cracks in the wood. The door is locked. It has three bolts one at the top, one at the bottom and one in the middle. All the bolts are unchained. I walk towards the door and try with all my strength to pull the bolts to unlock the door but cannot. I try again and still I cannot get the door to open.
I sit on the grass looking at the door and thinking to myself, why and earth won’t it open. It appears to be unlocked, but when I try to open it, it just won’t budge.
Then I glance at this little crocus sat all alone in the ground. As I keep looking at it the sun shines brightly down on it and it opens it’s petals to the light. It does it with ease and gentleness.
Just then as I am watching, a small bird jumps down and sits beside the crocus. It is a robin and both are in the sunlight. Then the little bird nestles beside the crocus and goes to sleep. I think to myself how peaceful they both look.
Then deep within my heart I start to feel a glow and warmth inside me. I haven’t had this feeling before, but as the feelings get stronger I feel the tears in my eyes that slowly fall down my face. I feel full of love and feel love all around me. Then the tiny bird got up and came towards me and sat beside me for the longest while.
I then started to think about the door again and how I couldn’t open it. As I stared at the crocus I allowed its warmth to fill my heart and as it did I could see the colours of the crocus surrounding the door. I gently got up and walked towards it
The bird came with me. I then tried the bolts once more. First the top, then the bottom and then the middle. As I did this one by one they pulled back with ease.
I then put my hand on the handle and turned it, and pushed the door. It had opened , the bird flew past me and then I stepped inside.
I could see some people I knew and others I didn’t. The one person I did recognise was my mother. I could see her down the garden. She was wearing a short sleeved white top, grey skirt, tights and had some slip on shoes with open toes. She was holding a green hose and was watering the garden. As I walked past all the people and got nearer to her she turned around and smiled at me. A beautiful smile and she looked so well and happy.
I wasn’t sure what this place was, but seeing my mother I knew that it was a safe place to come and that I would be very welcome and loved.
